This product os found as an exudates on the leave s and stems of a plant Euphorbia antisyphilitica, found in northern Mexico and the southwestern united State. The production of this wax is confined to areas where rugged climatic and topographical conditions combine to produce the highest wax-yielding varieties. Plants growing in the hottest and driest areas produce a scale like covering on the plant, which after processing, yield a hard vegetable wax of superior quality. The wax is obtained by boiling the leaves and stems with water and sulfuric acid. It is usually found either raw in lumps or in a refined state of flakes, pellerts or powerder. It is yellowish – brown in color and is opaque to translucent, hard brittle, easily pulverized, and practically insoluble in water, it is slightly soluble in alcohol. It is classified as hardwax and has a softening range at 64 to 68 C
USES :
It is used emollients to protect the skin against moisture loss, and to harden other waxes. It is mainly used in lipsticks, solid fragrances, cosmetics, polishes, lubricants, candle compositions and liquid powders to given them body. It is compatible with most animal, vegetable and mineral waxes and a large variety of natural and synthetic resins.
